Junkiri Education Program

Kathmandu, Nepal |

In Nepal, hundreds of innocent children are forced to live inside prison cells with their incarcerated parents – unless Prisoners Assistance Nepal can rescue these children and give them a better life at one of its homes. They have suffered unbelievable traumas from living in jails and need specialized care, which isn’t offered in traditional Nepali schools. That’s where the Junkiri Education Program comes in. PA Nepal runs two Junkiri schools that focus on experiential learning and involves nature in the classroom; a welcome change from the unhygienic and cramped living conditions in jail cells and the lack of educational stimulation. Over 150 children are currently enrolled with dozens more coming every year.
